Conveniently located to serve the areas of New Bern, NC

Dr. John Zannis is renowned for his interest in rhinoplasty techniques and the exceptional results he regularly creates with cosmetic procedures of the nose.

Plastic surgery procedures involving the internal structures of the nose are widely considered to be the most difficult to perform, so it is recommended that patients choose the best surgeon available for their nose surgery.

Rhinoplasty surgery at the Zannis Center for Plastic Surgery in New Bern, North Carolina is among the best in our region and well-known throughout the world. Although no two noses—and no two rhinoplasty procedures—are the same, Dr. Zannis takes pride in approaching each as its own unique challenge and artistic opportunity.

Before and After Photos

Ideal Candidate

Most healthy people who have never undergone nose surgery are good candidates for a primary rhinoplasty procedure. Those who have already undergone rhinoplasty and wish to correct aesthetic or functional problems with their nose job are invited to read about Secondary Rhinoplasty procedures.

A nose that is too small, large, wide, or crooked may be corrected with rhinoplasty. Nose surgery can also help eliminate or lessen the appearance of a prominent bump on the nose or a less-than-satisfactory nasal tip.

Surgery of the nose improves the appearance and proportion of your nose, enhancing facial harmony and self-confidence. Surgery of the nose may also correct impaired breathing caused by structural defects in the nose.

Nose surgery can be performed on its own or combined with another procedure such as a brow lift or a BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment for more comprehensive results.

About Rhinoplasty

  • Nose size, in relation to facial balance
  • Nose width, at the bridge or in the size and position of the nostrils
  • Nose profile, with visible humps or depressions on the bridge
  • Nasal tip, that is, enlarged or bulbous, drooping, upturned, or hooked nose
  • Nostrils that are too large or wide
  • Nasal deviation

Procedure

Incisions are hidden at the nostril base and/or inside the nose allow access to reshape underlying cartilage and the nasal bone if required.

Rhinoplasty procedures may include lowering humps, narrowing of nasal bones, shaping of the nasal tip or nostril size, and improving the angle between the nose and the upper lip. A deviated septum can also be repaired, in most cases.

This procedure can also be used to help correct breathing difficulties caused by structural irregularities in the nose.

Results & Recovery

After nose surgery, it is important to give the body plenty of time to heal. During the first 24 hours following the procedure, patients are advised to keep their head elevated.

There may be some swelling and bruising the first two days after surgery, but these should subside considerably after a week or two has elapsed. In most cases, rhinoplasty patients can return to work within a week.

Residual swelling is usually only noticeable to the patient and the surgeon and will decrease gradually.

You should see a change within 6 to 8 weeks following surgery, with continued refinement for 6 to 12 months. Cartilage is a flexible and ever-growing tissue, therefore results following surgery are not fully predictable.
