Dermabrasion is a type of exfoliation that uses a fast-rotating surgical tool to loosen the top layer of skin tissue, allowing for the removal of scars. While dermabrasion can take longer to heal than other methods, it’s often more effective.
Also known as collagen induction therapy, this non-surgical, non-laser treatment uses tiny micro-needles to gently perforate the skin and create microscopic channels in the epidermis. This naturally encourages your body to increase collagen production, allowing for the formation of fresh tissue that helps repair scars and hyperpigmentation.
Scar excision or revision surgery is used to try and minimize the appearance of a scar and to try and make the scar better blend in with the surrounding skin. During this procedure, we will try and remove as much of the scar tissue as possible, take care to carefully close the new wound.
