Reducing The Appearance Of A Double Chin With Plastic Surgery

At Zannis Plastic Surgery, we’re in the business of making you look and feel your best. Many of our patients have come to us with complaints about what most would call a “double chin,” which is essentially an excess of skin or fatty deposits between your neck and chin. For some, this can be more pronounced than others as there are many factors that contribute to a fuller chin, including age, genetics, stress, and diet.

If you’re interested in plastic surgery to reduce the appearance of a double chin, there are certainly options, the most popular of which would be a neck lift, or “platysmaplasty procedure.”

What Is The Process For A Neck Lift?

A neck lift procedure involves making a few incisions behind the ear lobe and oftentimes, under the chin as well, that helps with tightening the skin and muscles around your neck. Once the skin is lifted and tightened, it improves the appearance of this area by giving it more contour and tone. In addition to the incisions, liposuction is also used often in neck lifts to help remove the fat deposits from beneath the chin.

In patients who have had this procedure performed in the past, the results are impressive. You will experience a more visible jawline, improved facial contours, and a more youthful appearance after your recovery.

In terms of recovery, you can expect your bruising and swelling to fade within 2 to 4 weeks after your neck lift, although depending on how your procedure was performed, we do recommend that you refrain from intense physical activity for at least 6 weeks.
