About 360 Liposuction
360 Liposuction is a surgical procedure that uses a suction cannula to remove diet-resistant fat deposits from around the midsection to restore a more sculpted torso. This procedure deviates from traditional liposuction by comprehensively, circumferentially resculpting your figure within a single appointment, allowing you to transform your figure with ease.
Types of Liposuction
Dr. Zannis can perform several variations of liposuction when performing 360 liposuction. These include tumescent liposuction, SmartLipo®, and SAFELipo®–each of which offers natural-looking results and its own unique benefits.
- Tumescent Liposuction: Tumescent liposuction is the gold standard for liposuction and uses a manual cannula to break down and aspirate fat from your body. (2)
- SmartLipo: SmartLipo (SmartLipo®) utilizes a cannula equipped with a laser fiber rod to liquefy your fat before it is aspirated from the treatment area.
- SAFELipo: SAFELipo (SAFELipo®) features specially-designed basket-tipped cannulas to provide a gentler, more pleasant experience during your procedure.
Candidates
You may be an ideal candidate for 360 liposuction if you have accumulated stubborn, diet-resistant fat around your abdomen, flanks, or lower back, and wish to address it to achieve a more defined and contoured figure. You may especially benefit from 360 liposuction if you are interested in addressing any physical changes from events such as pregnancy or weight loss.
To qualify for your procedure, you should be in good general health and maintain realistic expectations regarding your results. You should also be nonsmoking or willing to quit using nicotine. You should also have achieved a stable, maintainable weight and have good skin elasticity. Dr. Zannis will determine your candidacy during your consultation.
Personal Consultation
Your personal consultation is your time to learn more about 360 liposuction. During this consultation, Dr. Zannis will meet with you individually to discuss what this procedure entails, confirm your candidacy, and craft your treatment plan. He will ask you about your medical history, personal concerns, and aesthetic goals. He will also perform a physical evaluation to assess your natural anatomy and skin quality.
Dr. Zannis will use this information to create a one-of-a-kind solution for your concerns. He will determine the most effective variation of liposuction to perform, how much fat to remove, and what areas of your midsection he should address. He will also answer any questions you may have to ensure you have a full understanding of your upcoming procedure.

Preparation
Once you have scheduled your procedure, you will need to begin making certain preparations. Dr. Zannis will provide you with a set of instructions to guide you, which may include:
- Managing Certain Medications: Discontinue any medications or supplements that may thin your blood.
- Arranging Time Away: You will need to prepare to take time away from your responsibilities and commitments to allow yourself time to rest.
- Preparing Transportation: Have a trusted friend or relative transport you home after your procedure, as you will not be able to drive yourself.
- Filling Your Prescriptions: Pick up any medications you may need.
- Avoiding Alcohol: Refrain from consuming any alcohol in the days before and after your procedure.
- Ceasing Nicotine: Abstain from nicotine entirely, starting at least four weeks before your procedure.
Procedure
Dr. Zannis will perform your 360 liposuction at his surgical center on an outpatient basis. The length of each procedure will vary, but you can expect yours to last for a few hours. You will receive general anesthesia at the beginning of your procedure so you remain comfortably asleep.
Dr. Zannis will make incisions near the targeted fat deposits before injecting them with a tumescent fluid. This solution consists of lidocaine, epinephrine, and saline, which will further numb your local tissues, constrict your blood vessels to reduce any bleeding, and swell your fat cells to simplify the removal process. (3) Dr. Zannis will then either perform the remainder of the procedure using tumescent liposuction techniques, SmartLipo®, or SAFELipo®.
Tumescent Liposuction
When performing tumescent liposuction, Dr. Zannis will insert a cannula through the incisions. He will move the cannula back and forth to break down your fat cells. With this cannula, he will suction out your fat, leaving the treated areas smoother and more toned.
SmartLipo®
Dr. Zannis will perform SmartLipo® by inserting a thin cannula equipped with a laser fiber into the treatment area. This fiber will emit laser energy to liquefy the local fat and promote neocollagenesis, which can elevate the firmness, health, and overall appearance of your skin. Dr. Zannis will use the laser fiber to comprehensively recontour your figure as the cannula suctions out your emulsified fat.
SAFELipo®
Dr. Zannis can sculpt your figure using SAFELipo® by inserting a specialized cannula through your incision. Dr. Zannis will use the cannula to separate and break down your fat before aspirating it from your body. SAFELipo® cannulas feature basket-shaped tips to help remove fat in a more delicate and precise manner.
Recovery
After 360 liposuction, it is common to experience some swelling, bruising, or discomfort around the treated areas. These effects are transient and will subside on their own, but you may also manage them with the medications Dr. Zannis prescribes and plenty of rest. He will also have you wear a compression garment throughout your recovery. This is a specialized garment that will prevent further swelling and preserve your renewed figure as your tissues heal and settle.
During this time, you will need to take time away from your responsibilities and career to focus on your recovery. You may return to most of your daily activities within one to two weeks. However, you will need to avoid engaging in any strenuous or physically demanding activities for another several weeks, or until Dr. Zannis has cleared you to return.
Dr. Zannis will provide you with a full set of recovery instructions during your consultation. By following each one, you can ensure a quick and comfortable return to your routine.
Results
You may notice differences in your appearance shortly after your procedure, but the full results of your 360 liposuction procedure will become more apparent as any residual swelling subsides. Your exact results will vary, but you can expect to enjoy smoother, more sculpted contours, improved proportions, as well as a more defined midsection, each of which can contribute to a more desirable figure. You may also notice improvements in your personal comfort, especially when performing more physically demanding tasks.
The results of 360 liposuction are permanent, as your fat cells cannot return after Dr. Zannis removes them from your body. However, you will need to ensure you maintain a stable weight and a healthy lifestyle, as fluctuations can affect your long-term appearance.
Corresponding Procedures
Tummy Tuck
A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is a surgical body-contouring procedure that can restore a flatter, smoother abdominal section. This procedure removes excess skin and strengthens the underlying abdominal muscles to address both skin laxity and separated abdominal muscles (diastasis recti). Dr. Zannis typically performs this procedure to address the lasting changes associated with weight loss or pregnancy, and may combine it with your 360 liposuction to address any hanging or redundant skin left around the abdomen after your procedure.
